REVIEW: Crushin’ It Shells, WOW
“These are hands down the best shells I’ve ever shot off, and with the limited stock this year I highly recommend getting as many as you can before they’re gone!”
The crushin’ it shells are a 5″ shell with 24 shells and 4 tubes. Because these shells are so big, they do not have the same lift as a normal 60 gram shell. A lot of people confuse 60 grams as how much a shell weighs, but in reality, it’s a classification of the shell. This is the closest thing to a true 60 gram shell kit. I took one of the shells apart to see what it was made of compared to a Big Fireworks Pro Shell. When I did this, I noticed a couple of things.
1. The tube is a little thicker than the pro shells. This is good for one main reason, the tighter a shell is wrapped and packed, is going to determine how loud the break is going to be. So before we even get to the composition of the shell, we already know there’s going to be more pressure built up in the shell when it breaks, thus making it louder.
2. The clay plugs are the same size as a Pro Shell. They are 3/4 of an inch long on either side of the shell. With the Crushin’ it Shells being 5″ and the Pro shells being 3 1/2″ this means there’s more room to fill the shell with powder.
3. When I took apart both of these shells, two different things happened. When I opened the Pro Shell, the burst charge and stars fell out without too much difficulty. When I did the Crushin’ It Shell, I had to stick a knife in and take the burst out in chunks because it was packed so tight.Again packed tight is something you want. The more powder in the shell and the more pressure that is built up when the time fuse burns into the lift charge the bigger and louder the break is going to be.
